The Institute for Transport Studies (ITS) from The University of Leeds (UNIVLEEDS) is a leading international centre for transport research. ITS is particularly notable for the breadth and depth of research, the international quality of which has been verified by Research Excellence Framework (REF) stretching back over a period of 20 years. It was also the first academic unit in Britain to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation for research management. ITS staff come from a wide variety of background disciplines, including economics, engineering, geography, mathematics, computing, psychology and social science.
The Safety and Technology group at ITS has been contributing to the enhancement of road safety and fuel efficient driving for the past 20 years pursuing the aim to advance the study of interactions between road users and new technologies, both inside and outside the vehicle. With expertise in human factors, experimental and social psychology, neuroscience and physiology, computer science and engineering, ITS combines disciplines to study road user behavior using a variety of methodologies (laboratory, simulator, field testing). In GamECAR, UNIVLEEDS will participate in the development of Use Case scenarios and the evaluation of the developed technologies.
